WERRING CONTEMPORARY
Italian painter Valerio D’Ospina is known for dynamic cityscapes and industrial scenes that capture the rhythm and energy of contemporary life. Through expressive brushwork, shifting perspectives, and a largely monochromatic palette, he transforms streets, rail yards, shipyards, and architectural spaces into images charged with movement and atmosphere.
Born in Taranto, Italy, D’Ospina studied painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence, earning his degree cum laude before completing advanced graduate studies. While in Florence, he immersed himself in the techniques of the Old Masters and received permission to copy original works at the Palazzo Pitti. His subsequent work in antique-painting restoration further deepened his understanding of traditional materials and methods.
At age 27, he became a professor of art, later leaving academia to devote himself fully to painting.
Grounded in classical training yet distinctly contemporary, D’Ospina’s work has been exhibited internationally and featured in prominent art publications, university lectures, and fine-art textbooks. His paintings are held in private, corporate, and museum collections worldwide.
