WERRING CONTEMPORARY
Bruce Samuelson is a renowned painter known for his abstracted figurative compositions that explore movement, perception, and memory. His work is rooted in the tradition of life drawing and deconstructs the human form into fluid, gestural marks that oscillate between representation and abstraction. Samuelson's paintings employ layering, erasure, and distortion, creating ambiguous, dreamlike spaces. He studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, where he has also taught for decades. His work is associated with the Disrupted Realism movement, which explores abstraction within figurative painting. Samuelson's paintings and drawings are included in numerous public collections, and through experimentation and intuition, he continues to push the boundaries of figurative abstraction.
